YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY THROUGH TONIGHT...  Rain may transition over to a heavy wet snow for a few hours this morning along a line from Atwood to Goodland and Cheyenne Wells. Localized snow accumulations will be possible.  Northwest winds gusting 35 to 50 mph will be common from late morning through the afternoon. The strongest wind gusts are expected along and west of Kansas Highway 27.  A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at midnight for locations along and south of Interstate 70.  A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect at midnight for Cheyenne, Rawlins, Decatur and Norton counties in Kansas.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...  A Winter Storm Warning and Winter Storm Watch remain in effect Wednesday through Wednesday night. Snowfall amounts ranging from 6 to 8 inches are forecast. Northeast to northwest winds gusting 35 to 45 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow with visibilities likely below one mile. Hazardous travel conditions can be expected.  Wind chill readings Wednesday night through Thursday morning are forecast to drop into the 5 below to 10 below zero range across far eastern Colorado.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed.
