WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 ...HEAVY SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN COLORADO MOUNTAINS THROUGH SATURDAY...  This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight  Light snow is falling this morning in the mountains, heaviest in the Park Range and northern Front Range. Snow will become heavy in the mountains this afternoon and will last through the night tonight. Snowfall rates up to 3 inches per hour are possible in the Park Range. The very heavy snow along with strong winds will result in nearly impossible travel conditions tonight in the Park Range. Snowfall rates will be up to 2 inches per hour in the northern Front Range mountains and gusty winds will create hazardous travel conditions tonight. Along the I-70 mountain corridor, snow will be lighter but will still have an impact on travel. The worst period for travel along the I-70 mountain corridor will be tonight and Saturday morning when there will be increased ski traffic. Otherwise, the plains will be relatively mild today with gusty winds.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday  Heavy snow will continue over the Park Range mountains and northern Front Range mountains where an additional 4-8" are possible on Saturday. Lighter snow amounts of a few inches can be expected in the I-70 Mountain Corridor and Summit County. The prolonged period of snow will create hazardous travel conditions and snow-covered roads.  A cold front will bring light snow across the area later Saturday through Sunday night or Monday. Not much accumulation is expected, but some travel impact is possible. Very cold temperatures are expected on the plains from Sunday through Tuesday, with the coldest air Monday through Tuesday morning. Wind chill values will drop near -20 Sunday and Monday nights, and will likely remain below zero during the day Monday. It will be cool in the mountains, but not unusually cold.
