WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

...LONG DURATION WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT THE AREA THROUGH MONDAY... This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Steady snow will continue through tonight in the high country, heaviest this morning and in the northern mountains. However, slick conditions can be expected at times for most if not all mountain travel corridors, including I-70 through Summit County. Gusty winds up to 55 mph will create some blowing snow over the high mountain passes, resulting in treacherous conditions and reduced visibility at times. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday A lull in the mountain snowfall can be expected Sunday, with mainly light showers and less travel impacts through the day. Snow will then redevelop and become more widespread across the area Sunday night and continue into Monday as the storm tracks across the state. While some uncertainty exists, there is potential for heavy snow and several inches of snow accumulation over much of northeast and north central Colorado. Travelers should plan on slick and snow covered roads over the region for Sunday night and Monday, likely lasting into Monday night for the northeast plains and mountains. Alter holiday travel plans accordingly, if possible. Better ground travel days to the east and northeast of Colorado will be Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday, while better travel days to the west will be just Wednesday and Thursday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed through tonight.
