This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...TONIGHT... Wind chill readings are expected to drop into the single numbers to low teens below zero for areas along/west of a line from McCook, Nebraska to Colby, Kansas down to Tribune, Kansas. Patchy freezing fog is possible across portions of Yuma, Dundy, Hitchcock counties as well as Cheyenne county in Kansas after midnight. Visibility may be reduced at times to 3 miles or less. Elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses may freeze. Travelers should use caution. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY... A very cold airmass will build into the region Wednesday through Friday driving wind chills to dangerously low levels. A prolonged period of wind chills less than negative 20 is expected during this time. Those with vulnerable outdoor interests such as livestock should prepare for several days of very cold conditions by the middle of the week. As the cold front responsible for the cold weather sweeps across the area Wednesday night, strong northerly winds gusting in excess of 50 mph are possible.
