YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY...  Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are expected during the afternoon hours today. Areas along/west of Highway 27 and south of Wray, Colorado will be at risk.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...  Elevated fire weather conditions are expected Monday afternoon for areas along and west of Highway 27.  There is a Winter Storm Watch currently in effect for Yuma county in Colorado for Monday night through Tuesday night.  For late Monday into the overnight hours, a large low pressure system will impact the entire Tri-State Area. Showers, east of highway 27, and even some severe thunderstorms, mainly east of Highway 83, will be possible late Monday night. Colder air from the north will also move in overnight, allowing for a changeover to wintry precipitation, including. Freezing rain is possible during the transition to snow in east central Colorado to southwest Nebraska. As roadways cool to below freezing Monday night, any remaining water will likely freeze, causing slick conditions. The locations most impacted by the snow will be in the northwest. Blowing and drifting snow will be a concern in the same area Tuesday through possibly Thursday.  Cold wind chill readings will impact the area next week, with negative single numbers expected from Wednesday night onward.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation may be required.
